Hello, this is the Provoked Prawn and this is a video on the Noctua Chromax Black NH-D15 CPU cooler. Here I'm installing the CPU tower cooler with an LGA 170
the ram isn't even that tall, 42mm neo forza ddr4. check out noctua and be quiet!'s documents on ram clearance before making a decision to save a headache. Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE or Deepcool AK620 would be better picks. Nearly as good as the D15 but much cheaper.
The NH-D15 chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning flagship model NH-D15 premium-quality quiet CPU cooler. Thanks to the same proven dual-tower heatsink design and NF-A15 PWM fans, it stays true to the NH-D15’s successful formula of rivalling the performance of all-in-one water coolers while maintaining superb quietness of operation.
1. be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. 2. Noctua NH-D15. 3. Cryorig R1 Ultimate. If you know of any other good air coolers that will fit my current build, I may take a look at them, and if it's good enough, I may consider buying that cooler instead. Please, however, no liquid coolers. I want a super quiet system.
The NH-D15S only performs a few degrees worse than the NH-D15. Both are capable of cooling the 12700k. You can always add a 120mm fan instead, as the fan clips are designed for 120mm mounting holes (since the fans included with the cooler are 140mm with 120mm holes). I had similar problem. Just bought Noctua 120mm fan and mount it in front.
So you are better off just getting the Noctua NH-D15S which just comes with the center fan: PCPartPicker Part List. Type. Item. Price. CPU Cooler. Noctua NH-D15S 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler. $79.90 @ Amazon. Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts.
Absolutely no problem. You do not need 120mm fans if you have space. Do not look at users trials with 120mm fans. The master of 120mm fans nf-a12x25 is also tested on nh-d15 they did not give better temperatures. Noctua over-engineers those coolers (takes 5-6 years per cooler) and fans coming with them are specifically made for the coolers.
My system, ITX case with limited front vents, i7 8700K at 4.7GHz with 1.17v core voltage under NH-D15 and intake fans speed at 1500 rpm, around 30-32C ambient temps my CPU idle temps 38-41C. I downclock it as the climate here is much hotter than usual.. It was OCed at 4.9GHz with 1.31v and higher intake fans speed..
RAM clearance between D15 and D15S is only 1 MM, 64 vs 65. Mounting the fan on the rear can cause turbulance, as there needs to be 5MM of space in between the fan intake side and the heatsink. And the D15 doesn't come with 4 extra thicc anti-vibration pads to solve that, unlike the U14S. You could also buy a NF-A12x25 for the front and keep the
The Noctua NH-D15 is about 5C warmer than the H150i Elite Capellix AIO. You're already at 84C (without temp spikes considered) with a rather high OC. If you want to go the D15 route, consider dropping to 5Ghz with a lower voltage to get better temps and a longer lasting CPU. Remember, heat is one of the two major factors that contribute to CPU
Get the nh-u12s if the price difference isn’t a factor. The fan on the redux is louder and has one less heat pipe and you don’t get the extra accessories but they should still perform almost the same. NH-D15 is probably overkill as the difference in performance is more noticeable on hotter CPUs like i7/i9/R7/R9.
